Riso 101 Workshop: Intro to Risograph Printing
Curious about Risograph printing but not sure where to start? This fun and friendly 3-hour workshop at Silly Gooze Editions is the perfect introduction. You’ll learn how Riso works, explore layering and colour magic, and create your own two-colour A3 print to take home.
We’ll chat through the basics, show you the machine in action, and guide you through making a simple design using collage, drawing, or mark-making. No design experience needed – just bring your curiosity!

Riso Sketchpad Workshop: Make Your Own Custom Printed Sketchbooks
Spend a creative 3 hours at Silly Gooze Editions designing and assembling two custom Riso-printed sketchpads! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create two beautifully bound A5-ish (180mm x 250mm) sketchbook, combining clean cartridge paper with Risograph-printed covers and creative extras.
Choose from a selection of pre-printed prompt pages illustrated by the brilliant Emma Britten, designed to spark ideas and add personality to your book. Then, as a group, co-design your cover artwork, which we’ll Risograph print in your chosen colours. We’ll finish off your books with a sturdy greyboard back and recycled plastic comb binding – keeping things sustainable and landfill-friendly.
You’ll leave with:

Advanced Riso Workshop: Multi-Layered Printing
Take your Riso skills to the next level in this 2-day deep dive into multi-layer Risograph printing at Silly Gooze Editions. Perfect for those who’ve done our Riso 101 or already have some experience with Riso, this workshop focuses on designing, preparing, and printing complex multi-colour, multi-layered, and textured artworks.
You’ll explore how colour layering, transparency, and registration can be used to create bold, expressive images with texture and depth. We’ll experiment with mark-making, halftones, scanned textures, and analogue/digital hybrids. You’ll plan a layered print from start to finish, prep your artwork for separation, and leave with a vibrant edition of your final piece.
If you plan to incorporate digital elements, please bring your own laptop, tablet, iPad, or preferred hardware to work from. We’ll have scanners and guidance available, but you’ll need your own device for digital editing.
You’ll leave with:
🪿 A set of multi-layered A3 Risograph prints (editioned, signed, and ready to show off)
🪿 Skills in layering, registration, colour blending, and creative problem-solving

Join us for a relaxed few hours at Silly Gooze Editions for a Riso Open Session – a chance to print your own pre-prepared artwork, hang out in the studio, and connect with other like-minded creatives.
This session is for folks who already have some experience with Riso (or have done our Riso 101) and have artwork ready to print. You’ll have access to our Risograph machines, colour drums, and expert support to help bring your ideas to life.
It’s not a taught workshop – more of a friendly shared print session with light guidance, good vibes, and time to geek out over prints with fellow artists.
You’ll get:
🪿 Use of the Riso machines with a technician and a selection of colours
🪿 Studio support and troubleshooting help
🪿 A chance to meet & make alongside other print lovers
🧃 Tea, coffee snacks & chat included
Not suitable for beginners – this is for people who are print-ready and want a little studio time and company while they create.

Riso Planners Workshop: Make Your Own Custom Organiser
Join us for a joyful day of Riso printing and book-making, where we’ll be creating totally unique, totally personalised planners – compiled by you, for how your brain works best.
You’ll get to collate your own combination of beautifully Risograph-printed pages – including weekly, daily, or monthly layouts – plus a playful mix of planning prompts and illustrated extras by the brilliant Emma Britten. Whether you’re a list-maker, doodler, goal-tracker or total chaos gremlin, this planner will be built by you to support your flow.

Riso 101 Workshop: Design & Print Your Own Event Posters
Got an event coming up? A gig, a workshop, a launch, or just something you want to shout about? Come and play in the studio in this beginner-friendly session where you’ll design and print your own two-colour Risograph poster with full studio support.

Advanced Riso Artist Books Workshop: Concertina Books for Artists, Designers, and Creatives!
Join us at Silly Gooze Editions for a hands-on, design-led workshop exploring how to create artist books using Risograph printing. Across two immersive days, you’ll design, print, and bind your own limited-edition concertina book – perfect for exhibiting, gifting, or selling.
🪿 Day 1 is all about design and print. Bring your ideas, sketches, texts, or visuals and we’ll guide you through prepping artwork for Risograph printing. You’ll create a two-colour layout for a double-sided, six-panel concertina book – that’s 10 pages including endpapers, ready for folding and bookmaking the next day. Choose from a range of heavyweight papers that allow your finished book to stand upright like a small display piece.
🪿 Day 2 is all about the build. You’ll learn how to fold and assemble a concertina book with structure and presence – including making a blank mock-up to practice the technique first. Choose from a selection of book cloths to make your hardback covers, and we’ll guide you step-by-step to transform your Riso-printed pages into beautiful, tactile books.

‘Kings Heath Calling: A Printed Collection of Zines’ Book Launch
Join us as we celebrate the launch of our latest Risograph printed publication Kings Heath Calling: A Printed Collection of Zines.
We were approached to design and publish this edition of 10 books, bringing together over 50 zines made by the community of Kings Heath, Northampton. Owing to the nature of this design, each book is completely unique, printed using 7 colours and hand stitched with ink matched book thread.
Stollen & Wolle Winter Market and Wayzgoose
Join our studio mates RiverKnits for their second woolly winter market, and the launch of our editions store here at SillyGooze.
We have invited some of our favourite yarn, art, and artisan craft businesses to exhibit alongside limited edition artworks and printmaking demos. It will be a great opportunity for gift buying while supporting local, creative, and sustainable businesses.
Coffee and Crit Club
Our in-person friendly crit group will launch in March, and run every third Sunday of the month. Crit Group is led by artist-curator Billy Hawes, and offers each participant an opportunity to discuss their art work in a non-judgmental environment, and to share their ideas with other creatives.

Everything Can Be Print: Artist Talk by Dylan Fox
A beer mat? A shop sign? A postcard? Even an arcade claw machine and a stick of rock?!
Dylan Fox, artistic director of Silly Gooze Editions, has been involved in printmaking for over 10 years. His work spans socially engaged practice, found objects, printed matter, and text based works, developing a unique perspective on printmaking. By considering everything as a ‘print’, this talk will question what you thought you knew about this traditionally paper-based practice and hopefully inspire you in your own work.
